Record breaking Taylor Swift has surpassed Beyonce by winning her 33rd all time at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards. Madonna also wins 7 out of 13 nominations winning the most on the night.
Madonna won the most awards on the night winning best artist of the year, best collaboration with the song “Bring Your Love” collaborating with Sabrina Carpenter, best dance, best album, best long form video, best choreography and best cinematography. Madonna spoke in her speech shortly after winning best artist of the year “Some of you were probably not born but Iperformed at the first MTV Awards 43 years ago”. Further on she said, “I spent the last year and a half finding myself, believing in myself, and really making the music that I wanted to make.”
Taylor swift broke an incredible record on the night too, becoming the most successful artist of the awards. Before the night she was tied with Beyonce both on 30, but after winning Video of the Year with “The Fate of Ophelia”, Best Direction for “Opalite” and MTV VMA Artist Director Honor she became the most successful artist of the awards.
In her acceptance speech Swift told fans: “I want to thank and dedicate this award to one person without whom just this wouldn’t be happening, and that person is the ultimate showgirl, Dolly Parton.”
